Organic Seed Partnership
Organic Seed Partnership offers some wonderful workshops to learn more about seed biodiversity and seedsaving. They will be at The Common Ground Fair this weekend. We have gone for years to this fair. It is always a place to go each year to connect with fellow travellers with common interests and ideals. This year Randy and I can't make it but, Emma is going and will come back with lots of information for us. It is strange to have these growing up places that we've had with her...to have her go off on her own now...though she's been doing it for years. Sometimes there are those particular places that you had family rituals and memories that shift for some reason and there you are...learning to adjust and settle and see the light in the new changes that are.
The Organic Seed Partnership will have their seed processing mobile unit to process seeds that fairgoers bring to have sorted. We are just getting into seedsaving this year despite reading about it for decades. It seemed that with unschooling we had our feet in many puddles and pies and didn't have the time to devote to our farming endeavors in the way we'd like. Also, it's been laziness on our part I suppose. I mean it is easier to buy seeds from Fedco, High Mowing, Johnny's, Seed Savers...but, it is indeed lazy isn't it? We have a a few local growers that are pretty committed to seed saving. They offer up workshops locally and up at NOFA every year. We should get around to having them over for cob oven pizza and seed stories.
If you don't have enough to do here is some extensive reading and learning resources for your perusing pleasure at ATTRA.
